Garlic

Today I chopped a large clove of garlic covered it in lemon juice and added about a Tablespoon of honey. I heated it up enough to mix the honey. I drank it down clove and all.

The lemon and honey felt good on my sore throat.

The garlic seems to be drying up my drainage. It isn't all gone, but it is much better. It also is making me sneeze a little.

I recommend Yarrow if you can have 2-3 cups a day during a cold or the flu. But if you are lactating try garlic. A side effect of eating a lot of garlic is my nurslings like the milk more than usual.

Eucalyptus oil

This has been helpful when I can't breathe. It clears up the drainage a little. Not a cure, but definitely helpful.

Elderberry and Echinacea

I had two cups of this after finding out Yarrow might dry up my milk. I still got a sore throat in the morning. I did not notice anything after drinking them like I did with Yarrow.

Making a new tincture

My new tincture will have the following herbs:

Uva Ursi Leaf -antibacterial and skin lightening

Yarrow Flower -reduces inflamation

Plantain Leaf -pulls out toxins

Sage Leaf -drying, antisceptic

Witch Hazel Leaf -tightens/tones

Comfrey Leaf and Root -repairs tissue

This will be good for general wound dressing and also for postpartum healing

Yarrow notes

I felt achy and like I might be getting sick this morning. My kids have had fevers this week and my daughter still has one today. I made yarrow tea for her today and I had a cup as well. I immediately felt less achy and stronger all over. I think it has a drying effect too.
Here is the recipe:

Yarrow Tea
2 teaspoons yarrow flower
1/2 teaspoon lemongrass
1 stick cinnamon
2 cups nearly boiling water
Steep 10-15 minutes.
Add 1 Tablespoon lemon juice and 2 teaspoons honey
